Issues

 

- Our children aren't receiving the education they deserve because our teachers and students aren't getting the resources and support they need. Fayette County receives almost $850 million a year in revenue and our schools score below the state average with less than half meeting grade level standards. 

- Safety concerns have increased significantly over the last few years. We need to ensure the safety of our students and teachers so that everyone has a comfortable learning environment. 

- Financial literacy has never been more important. Most of our children do not graduate high school with the tools they need to run a budget, pay their bills or prepare for the future. I want to add a financial literacy course to the curriculum to ensure our students are ready to meet the financial challenges of adulthood.

- Leadership has been a concern.  There have been too many recent poor decisions with questionable outcomes that have negatively affected our children. With my military leadership and background, I will improve the School Board's leadership.

- Our Board of Education is lacking in transparency. I will provide that transparency and shine a light on the decision-making progress so everyone can understand what we are doing and why. 

- The current Board of Education has spent our taxpayer money unwisely. I will review the budget and do my best to ensure the money intended for our students, teachers and schools are used on them. There is no reason to cut art, music and foreign language classes in our schools. The waste needs to stop!
